The open spaces in Denman Prospect are amongst the most considered in Canberra. Each park and playground has been designed to provide more than just a place to play. They’re spaces that celebrate the surrounding landscape, offer a place of repose, somewhere to wander and to bring people together.

Now, a new destination is open in Denman North. Coree Park is the next jewel in Denman Prospect’s growing network of green spaces.

Anchored by a striking play tower inspired by the rolling hills of the Brindabella Mountains, Coree Park draws directly from the natural beauty that defines life at Denman Prospect. The tower’s sweeping form rises from the landscape like a sculptural landmark, inviting children to climb, explore and see the world from new heights.

Coree Park includes something for everyone, from the little explorers to adventurous older kids. The park’s junior play area is fully enclosed for added safety, with generous shade coverage and equipment made from durable materials designed to stand the test of time.

“The hero piece is steel,” explains Bridget Bence from the project team. “We used a strong steel structure as the foundation, but we’re mixing in natural elements too like rocks, concrete slides and local stone retaining walls to create that tactile mix of materials. It gives the park a really balanced feel between the built and the natural.”

Older children can climb, slide and explore the towering play structure, while nearby picnic spaces, open lawns and shady seating areas invite parents and carers to relax close by. It’s the perfect setting for families to spend time together.

The landscaping blends native species with a selection of deciduous trees to bring texture and seasonal colour to the park. Over time, these trees will grow to create a natural canopy around the playground and gathering spaces.

The play spaces are positioned under generous shade sails and trees to ensure children can play safely and comfortably throughout the day.

“We’ve made sure the main slides and play areas are well covered,” says Bridget. “It’s all about encouraging families to stay longer and enjoy the park in all seasons.”

Now open, Coree Park serves as a space to enrich community life at Denman Prospect, blending nature and neighbourhood and creating the ultimate suburb to call home.
