Denman Prospect is preparing to take another major step forward in delivering one of Canberra’s most impressive recreational destinations, with stage two of Denman Village Park scheduled to break ground soon. This final piece of the 1.5-hectare Denman Village Park will complete a diverse, connected precinct designed for every age and every style of play, from climbing frames and swings to sport courts, fitness trails and quiet spaces for reflection.
Stage one of the park has already become a favourite among locals thanks to its expansive play equipment, barbecues, shelter and easy to use amenities. Stage two builds on that success with a more active, sport driven focus, particularly designed for older children, teens and adults.
“The current park really caters for younger kids,” says Daniel Roy, Project Manager at Capital Estate Developments. “But we know there is a lack of play areas for teens across Canberra. Stage two has been designed to fill that gap while still giving every age group something to enjoy.”

Visitors will find more parking on arrival before crossing over the creek and ponds that separates the two stages. These water zones are set to become one of the most distinctive features of the entire precinct.
Taking inspiration from celebrated parklands across Australia, Denman Village Park’s landscape design is focused on creating a more immersive and organic environment. The creek and pond area will feel soft and natural, framed by layered planting, sandstone elements, gentle slopes and a jetty that draw you toward the water rather than away from it.
“We want people to be able to get as close to the water as possible,” Daniel explains. “You will be able to step off the main track and wander down to the small jetty area where you can sit right beside the water. It is always nice having that connection to water. This is not something you often see in suburban areas of Canberra.”
These small water side rest points complement the broader design approach that encourages meandering, exploring, adventure and activity like you’ve never seen it before.

One of the new inclusions is the learn to ride facility, offering a dedicated, mini village style setting where children can safely practice their bike skills and road rules. “It is like a little town,” Daniel says. “This is a dedicated spot where its safe for children to learn how to ride.”
Younger children will enjoy the classic small playground designed for those under five years of age, complete with swings and slides. Nearby brick shelters, barbecues, water fountains and picnic settings make the space ideal for parties and weekend gatherings. The lawn area offers a relaxed space between the different activity zones, giving people a spot to unwind or picnic before diving back into play.

But as you move further along, you’ll find the energetic heart of Denman Village Park. A full size multi use sports court will combine basketball, soccer and a kickabout wall in one fenced zone. Sitting alongside will be a dual use court designed for badminton and pickleball, two sports that continue to grow in popularity. “The court sizes are almost identical,” Daniel says. “So, we are working on an adjustable net system so people can switch between the two easily. And like everything here, the courts will always be open for public use.”
Stage two of Denman Village Park will also feature two enclosed cricket nets, an irrigated kickabout field, an outdoor gym and lighting to support evening activity. “A path will run alongside everything so you can bypass all the facilities or you can meander your way through if you want,” says Daniel.

Another significant feature is the continuation of the Cravens Creek Cultural Trail, which has been developed in consultation with local Indigenous people. The trail features a series of nodes that celebrate local Indigenous culture through art, stories, structures, native plantings and spaces for reflection. The first four nodes are already open in Denman North, with stage two and Cravens Creek completing the remainder of the trail. Each node offers something different, from quiet seating areas surrounded by culturally significant plant species to sculptural installations and educational elements that invite people to learn and connect more deeply with Country.
Together, these elements make Stage two the most ambitious community parkland delivered in the suburb to date. Construction is set to begin in early 2026, with completion expected late 2027. Once finished, it will stand as the largest play precinct in Denman Prospect, complementing local favourites like Ridgeline Park and Coree Park.
