Community Housing Project Funding Announcement

24 July 2025

As part of the 10-year celebration of Denman Prospect, Capital Property Group—in partnership with Homes for Homes—is proud to announce the latest recipients of grant funding: YWCA Canberra and Community Housing Canberra (CHC).

This announcement marks a significant milestone in the ongoing collaboration between Capital Property Group and Homes for Homes, reinforcing their commitment to supporting affordable housing initiatives in the ACT.

Steven Persson, CEO of Homes for Homes, noted the increasing potential of the initiative as more homes are built and sold in the region.

“With the rise in home construction and sales in the ACT, the funds raised through Homes for Homes are expected to grow exponentially over the next decade,” said Mr Persson. “Our ambition is to be the largest provider of social and affordable housing funding behind governments. Increasing the supply of social and affordable housing in Canberra is critical to achieving that goal.”

The most recent funding round, announced on 23 July, will support two impactful projects:

Community Housing Canberra will receive funding for the construction of a single dwelling in Wanniassa. Nathan Dal Bon, CEO of CHC, said: “We’re very pleased to receive this financial support from Homes for Homes. As a community housing provider, partnerships like this are essential to making subsidised housing viable.”

YWCA Canberra will use the grant to purchase a new two-bedroom unit to serve as a safe home for older women and women with or without children at risk of experiencing homelessness.

Frances Crimmins, CEO of YWCA Canberra, said: “We’re delighted to receive this funding for a second time. It will directly support our work to expand our housing portfolio for women and children escaping violence.”

Gabbie Foster from Capital Estate Developments reflected on the ongoing success of the initiative:

“Since launching Denman Prospect in 2015, we’ve proudly included the Homes for Homes initiative in every land and property sale. Denman Prospect was the first suburb to back this important charity. To date, $1.3 million has been granted to community housing projects across the ACT, providing safe homes for 53 people.”

This latest announcement underscores the lasting impact of community partnerships in tackling homelessness and supporting vulnerable members of the ACT community.
